The Happy Hippos love to discuss, and rarely agree – except when it comes to heartfelt matters and strong works. The Lëtzebuerg City Museum has more than enough of the latter, and the Happy Hippos are happy to take you along on their tour.
- Lëtzebuerg City MuseumGuided tours of the exhibition 'Best of Posters'17H15 (LU) | 22H00 (EN), by a jury member | 00H00 (FR), by a jury member
The exhibition provides an insight into the museum’s poster collection, comprising around 2,500 pieces from the fields of politics, administration, culture or advertising. At the same time, it illustrates the development of Luxembourg and international graphic design during the 20th century.
Posters bear witness to social changes, prevailing tastes and mentalities. Despite digital mass media, the poster remains part of the public space and the collective visual memory. As this medium thrives particularly on the immediate effect on its viewer, the museum has involved the public in the conception of the exhibition, by means of 6 juries that selected the 100 posters on display. The show also offers a 'Short History of the Poster', an animated projection and a room dedicated to poster production.
- Lëtzebuerg City MuseumGuided tours of the exhibition 'll you can eat. Humans and their food'17H30, 20H30 (FR) | 19H00 (EN) | 23H00 (LU)
Humans are in a permanent state of dependence on food. At the same time, we have been subject to alimentary constraints and restrictions since time immemorial – be it for climatic, economical or cultural reasons. The exhibition examines which factors influence our nutrition, how this relationship has changed historically and what side effects our eating habits have on us and on our environment.
How do religious customs, local traditions and global supply chains affect our food culture today? How can global food security be guaranteed in the face of a rapidly growing world population? And what is “good” nutrition anyway?
Using examples from Luxembourg, the exhibition attempts to shed light on the relationship between people and their food. It follows the path of food from production to processing to consumption and also ventures a look at the eating.
20H30 (FR) & 23H00 (LU) : guided tours by Mohamed Hamdi, exhibition curator

The Museum Night 2023 has received the logo ‘Mir engagéieren eis’ for its environmentally responsible organisation. The logo is awarded by the Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Sustainable Development in the framework of the ‘Green Events’ project. More information on: greenevents.lu
We are committed to taking the following measures:
- Reducing printed material: our communications have been redesigned and the evening programme is now available exclusively online.
- Eco-logical printed materials! For our flyers and posters, we're printing in an environmentally-friendly way, using climate-neutral production and recycled paper that has been certified "Blue Angel", made from 100% waste paper. This means that no trees had to be felled for production and that its manufacture saves up to 70% of water and 60% of energy compared to paper made from virgin fibres. This choice of paper will also help our printing company to finance forest reforestation projects in Europe.
- In addition to free public transport, special shuttle buses will be circulating between the seven museums throughout the evening. Click above for the shuttle timetable. In addition to the historic buses – the traditional shuttles for the Museum Night for several years now – 100% electric mini-buses have being added to our offer. Take advantage of the free public transport to get to Luxembourg-City. You can also use the free public transport to get Luxembourg-City, and for your return benefit from the various Night Bus services, offered by multiple municipalities, so that you do not have to rely on your own car.
