During the Nuit des Musées 2023, our youngest visitors will have the opportunity to discover the Villa Vauban from a completely new perspective. Children are invited to colour their own Villa Vauban with tiny dots of paint in a nocturnal atmosphere. Let the creativity shine!
- Villa VaubanStrolling concert: David Ascani & Sebastian 'Schlapbe' Flach20H00 | 21H00 | 22H00 | 23H00
Saxophonist David Ascani and double bassist Sebastian 'Schlapbe' Flach blend melody and groove in a harmonious interplay. For more than a decade, the two have been making music together, continually exploring fresh musical horizons. The focus of this acoustic duo lies on virtuosic and unforgettable melodies.
- Villa Vauban'Coup de cœur' with Jill Lallemang18H00 & 20H00 (LU)
Four years ago, her passion for podcasts started with 'Paus.', and since 2021, Jill Lallemang has regularly gone on blind dates with a microphone for the Lëtzebuerger Journal: the Germanist, cultural scientist and pedagogue meets more or less well-known guests in the framework of '(On)bekannt' to talk to them unprepared about all kinds of things – thematic digressions, dangerous half-knowledge and exciting stories included.
- Villa VaubanGuided tours of the exhibition 'In the splendor of Impressionism? Dominique Lang (1874–1919) and his contemporaries'18H30 & 23H00 (FR) | 17H15 & 20H30 (LU/DE) | 22H30 (EN)
Lang is considered Luxembourg’s most important (late) Impressionist. After his early Symbolist work, Lang turned to Impressionism from around 1909: the painterly gesture, use of light and colour became more important than the subject matter. He painted numerous landscapes, portraits and scenes of everyday life, mostly in the surroundings of his home in southern Luxembourg (Dudelange, Schifflange, Bettemburg). In parallel, paintings by Lang’s contemporaries and artist friends (C. Lambert, F. Seimetz) are shown. Works by artists from the Greater Region as well as a small selection of French painters illustrate the varieties of the Impressionist painting style in a broader context.
- Villa VaubanGuided tours of the exhibition 'A stroll through art. European painting and sculpture, 17th–19th century'19H30 (FR) | 21H30 (LU/DE) | 23H30 (EN)
With more than 100 paintings and 14 sculptures, Villa Vauban’s permanent exhibition takes visitors on a journey through three centuries of artistic creation: from the 17th-century Netherlands to Italian dreamscapes and French painting around 1850. In addition to styles, art periods and numerous masterpieces, there are small formats and miniatures to discover, as well as the spectacular acquisitions of Jean-Pierre Pescatore, benefactor of the City of Luxembourg, on the occasion of the auction of King William II of the Netherlands’ collection in 1850. The great diversity of subjects and artistic styles is conveyed at the beginning of the tour in the form of an immersive video projection that transports visitors into the atmosphere of the paintings they will discover on their stroll through art.
- Villa VaubanSpecial guided tours: The Villa Vauban and its sculpture park17H30 (LU) | 19H00 (EN), 60 min.
The Villa Vauban, Art Museum of the City of Luxembourg, is located in the middle of a park designed by Édouard André (1840–1911), one of the main landscape artists of his time, and reconstituted in its original form. Discover the park and its sculptures during a guided tour.

The Museum Night 2023 has received the logo ‘Mir engagéieren eis’ for its environmentally responsible organisation. The logo is awarded by the Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Sustainable Development in the framework of the ‘Green Events’ project. More information on: greenevents.lu
We are committed to taking the following measures:
- Reducing printed material: our communications have been redesigned and the evening programme is now available exclusively online.
- Eco-logical printed materials! For our flyers and posters, we're printing in an environmentally-friendly way, using climate-neutral production and recycled paper that has been certified "Blue Angel", made from 100% waste paper. This means that no trees had to be felled for production and that its manufacture saves up to 70% of water and 60% of energy compared to paper made from virgin fibres. This choice of paper will also help our printing company to finance forest reforestation projects in Europe.
- In addition to free public transport, special shuttle buses will be circulating between the seven museums throughout the evening. Click above for the shuttle timetable. In addition to the historic buses – the traditional shuttles for the Museum Night for several years now – 100% electric mini-buses have being added to our offer. Take advantage of the free public transport to get to Luxembourg-City. You can also use the free public transport to get Luxembourg-City, and for your return benefit from the various Night Bus services, offered by multiple municipalities, so that you do not have to rely on your own car.
